Vasilis Lekkas
Vasilis Lekkas, only at the age of 20, sings under the direction of Manos Hadjidakis, one of the most internationally acclaimed Greek composers, at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, lively broadcasted on the 3rd Program of the Greek Radio (April 1980). Since then and for more than 30 years, he has performed, all around the world, compositions and songs of the most distinguished Greek composers and poets: Manos Hadjidakis, Nikos Gatsos, Mikis Theodorakis, Yannis Markopoulos, Yannis Spathas, George Trantalidis, Mihalis Ganas, Lina Nikolakopoulou, Eugene Aranitsis, Aris Davarakis, Manos Eleftheriou, Iacovos Kampanelis, Michael Bourboulis, Christos Nikolopoulos, Manolis Rasouli, John Bach Spyropoulos and many more. In addition, he has expressed in music the words of poets such as Kostas Karyotakis, Kavvadias Giorgos Seferis, Nikos Engonopoulos , Odysseas Elytis and of ancient Greek lyric poets such as Anacreon, Critias, Ion of Chios, Alkaios, Pratinas, Sappho… He has done so in a most distinctive and explosive manner. Always standing up when on stage, he wishes to transmit the universal value of Greek thought and music. It is not surprising that Mikis Theodorakis himself called him the New Zorba, a symbol of original Greek spirit. He has recorded 7 personal albums. Vasilis Lekkas, through his impressive vocal range, lyrical interpretations and theatrical performance is being regarded as one of the most outstanding performers of his time, promoting universal Greek values and music.
Melina Aslanidou
Melina Aslanidou, has a proven career that spans genres and various kinds of music. She has studied the music of Pontos, the Byzantium, the traditional music of Thrace and folk music. She has collaborated and performed with some of Greece’s most notable artists, namely Giorgos Dalaras, Dimitris Mitropanos, Orfeas Peridis, Dimitra Galani, Nikos Portokalogou, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Giannis Kotsiras, Glikeria, Stelios Dionisiou. In 1999 she participates in the Womad Festival in Berlin as representative of the traditional music scene of Greece. She performs in Greece and abroad at top renowned venues (Europe, New York, Australia). She has released 2 personal albums and participated in many more. Her stage performance is feminine and passionate and she is considered today as one the best female singers of traditional Greek music.
